Skip the grind and power up your exile with our unbeatable PoE2 Currency deals—trusted by thousands of players.

In Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2), the game continues to offer players a POE2 Currency complex and rewarding experience, especially when it comes to character customization and combat strategies. Among the many passive abilities that can be accessed throughout the game, Storm Charge stands out as a potent tool for boosting elemental damage. If you’re looking to enhance your elemental builds or just want to understand how this powerful passive works, this article will explain exactly what Storm Charge does, how to utilize it effectively, and how to apply it to an amulet.

Storm Charge is a passive skill that grants two key benefits: it increases your elemental damage and provides a boost to critical chance. While it can be obtained by spending skill points in the passive tree, its other major application comes from anointment. The passive skill allows you to enhance your damage potential when used correctly, and it is especially useful for elemental damage-based builds that rely on critical hits.

The Bonuses from Storm Charge
40% Increased Elemental Damage After a Critical Hit
The core effect of Storm Charge is that it grants 40% increased elemental damage if you have recently (i.e., in the last 4 seconds) dealt a critical hit to an enemy.
20% Increased Critical Chance
On top of the elemental damage boost, Storm Charge also provides a 20% increase in critical chance. This bonus helps you land critical hits more often, which naturally synergizes with the main bonus.

Critical Hit Activation: First and foremost, the ability relies on you dealing a critical hit to an enemy. Once you achieve a critical strike, the 40% increased elemental damage buff activates.

Elemental Damage Boost: For the next 4 seconds after landing the critical hit, all of your elemental damage is boosted by 40%. This can be a game-changer in intense combat situations, especially if you’re using skills that can hit rapidly or have high elemental damage output.

Timed Window: The 4-second window during which the elemental damage boost lasts means that players need to time their attacks carefully. Using skills that deal multiple hits in quick succession can maximize the benefits of this burst damage increase, making it easier to sustain the effect.

What makes Storm Charge particularly useful is its flexibility. Even if your build isn’t exclusively focused on critical hits, the 40% increased elemental damage applies to all of your elemental abilities, so long as you manage to land a critical hit within that 4-second window. This opens up the potential for hybrid builds, where critical hits trigger massive damage boosts to your elemental abilities, even if those abilities don’t naturally deal critical hits.

In PoE 2, anointing an amulet with Storm Charge is the main way to obtain this powerful passive skill. To do this, players need to gather Distilled Mood, a special currency that allows you to infuse amulets with specific passive skills, including Storm Charge.

The first step in anointing an amulet with Storm Charge is collecting Distilled Mood, a rare crafting item used to apply specific passive skills. You can obtain Distilled Mood in one of two ways:

Random Drops: Distilled Mood can drop from Delirium enemies in the Ultimate Delirium map, which makes it a rare item tied to high-level, endgame content. If you’re running Delirium maps, you might get lucky and find the Distilled Mood from one of these enemies.

Currency Exchange: If you prefer a more reliable option, you can purchase Distilled Mood from Alva in your Hideout’s Currency Exchange. Be cautious, as Monsters in maps accessed with an Infused Waystone will not drop Distilled Mood, so you won’t be able to obtain it in every area of the game.

You will need to have an amulet available that you want to infuse with Storm Charge. This amulet should already be in your inventory and ready for the infusion process.

Infuse the Amulet with Storm Charge
To infuse the Storm Charge passive onto your amulet, follow these steps:

Open the Infuse Window: Right-click on any Distilled Mood item in your inventory. This will open the Infuse window, where you can start the process of applying the passive skill to the amulet.

Place the Items: In the Infuse window, place the amulet in the top slot and the Distilled Mood in the row below it. Make sure you arrange the Distilled Mood in the correct order:

Distilled Fear → Distilled Terror → Distilled Envy

Confirm the Infusion: If the items are correctly placed, you should see the “Storm Charge” effect appear in the text box at the bottom of the Infuse window. Once this is confirmed, click Infuse to complete the process.

After the infusion is successful, you will have an amulet that grants you Storm Charge. Equip the amulet to receive the 40% increased elemental damage and 20% increased critical chance whenever you deal a critical hit.

Storm Charge is a powerful passive skill in Path of Exile 2 that offers significant boosts to both your critical hit chance and your elemental damage. Whether you acquire it via skill points in the passive tree or by anointing an amulet, Storm Charge can make a Path of Exile 2 Currency huge difference in how effective your character is in battle. By understanding how to trigger its effects and timing your attacks correctly, you can greatly amplify your elemental damage and increase your overall damage output.
