Installing LED Headlights on a Honda Acty: A Simple Visibility Boost

At Oiwa Garage, we understand the unique needs of mini truck enthusiasts and strive to offer products that enhance the functionality, durability, and aesthetics of your vehicle.

Upgrading the headlights on your Honda Acty to LEDs is one of the simplest and most effective mods you can do—especially if you drive at night, in rural areas, or during bad weather. The stock halogen bulbs in HA3, HA4, HA6, and HA7 models are notoriously dim by modern standards. Swapping them for plug-and-play LED bulbs instantly improves road visibility, reduces power draw, and gives your mini truck a cleaner, more modern look.

? What You’ll Need:

  • LED H4 headlight bulbs (Acty uses standard H4/9003 type)

  • Screwdriver or 10mm socket (for headlight housing access)

  • Dielectric grease (optional, for moisture protection)

  • Zip ties or adhesive pads (to secure external LED drivers, if included)

⚙️ Installation Steps:

  1. Open the Headlight Area
For HA3/HA4 models, you may need to remove the front grille or access panel behind the lights. On HA6/HA7 vans, you often access bulbs from inside the cabin (under the dash or side access panels).

  2. Remove the Old Halogen Bulbs
Unplug the H4 connector, release the metal spring clip or rubber boot, and gently pull the bulb out.

  3. Install the LED Bulbs
Insert the new LED bulb the same way as the original—make sure the LED chips face left/right, not up/down. Secure with the clip or boot.

  4. Connect the Wiring
Plug the LED’s connector into the factory harness. If your LED kit has a separate driver or heat sink, mount it securely away from moving parts.

  5. Test the Lights
Turn on the headlights to confirm both low and high beams work properly. If one or both don’t light up, flip the plug (LEDs are polarity sensitive).

  6. Reassemble Panels or Grille
Once everything’s working, put the access panels or grille back in place. Tidy up any wiring with zip ties.

? Pro Tips:

  • Choose fanless LEDs if space is tight or you're concerned about long-term durability.

  • Use 6000K–6500K color temp for a clean white light that mimics daylight.

  • Avoid super-cheap LEDs that scatter light poorly or blind oncoming drivers—look for ones with a sharp cutoff beam.

  • Add LED-compatible turn signal or position bulbs for a consistent look.

? Why It’s Worth It:

  • Improved visibility without complex wiring

  • Lower current draw = less strain on your aging electrical system

  • Modern aesthetic that refreshes your Acty’s front end

  • Often costs under $50, and takes less than an hour to install
