Microsoft and LG Electronics are bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to select cars, turning backseat infotainment screens into full-fledged gaming consoles. The Xbox app will be integrated into LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform, allowing passengers to stream hundreds of games directly from the cloud.

Compatible vehicles include the Kia EV3, EV4, EV5, and the new Sportage. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can access popular titles like Gears of War: Reloaded, Forza Horizon 5, and upcoming releases such as The Outer Worlds 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Players can also stream games they already own, including Bugsnax, Don’t Starve, and Mafia: The Old Country. All that’s needed is a Bluetooth controller, an internet connection, and an automotive data plan.

To comply with safety regulations, the Xbox app will only be available on backseat screens, ensuring the driver stays focused on the road. Gaming functionality will likely be restricted while the car is moving.

LG’s webOS platform, known from smart TVs, now powers this in-car gaming experience. The feature was unveiled at the IAA Mobility show in Munich on September 8, 2025, starting with the Kia EV3. LG plans to expand webOS to more vehicles, aiming for 20 million cars by 2030.

For Microsoft, this move extends Xbox Cloud Gaming to another device without the need for extra hardware. Using car infotainment screens allows gamers to play anywhere, seamlessly blending entertainment into everyday travel.
