MMOexp Last Epoch: Managing Forging Potential and Risk

Glyphs of Hope should be used whenever possible to preserve forging potential. A craft that goes well early opens up more aggressive options later, such as refining or pushing affixes higher than you normally would.

Before touching an item, you need to know exactly what you're trying to make. Legendary crafting is not about blindly upgrading stats-it's about identifying which affixes truly matter based on the item's LP. Legendary Potential determines how many affixes from an exalted item will transfer when slamming into Last Epoch gold a unique. If you have 2 LP, only two affixes will carry over, so your entire crafting strategy should revolve around those two stats.

For example, when crafting an off-hand catalyst for a Lich build using a Stygian Coal with 2 LP, the priority is maximizing damage. In this case, the most important affixes are critical strike multiplier and spell critical strike chance. Resistances are nice, but they're secondary and not worth risking the craft over.

Managing Forging Potential and Risk

Forging potential is your most valuable resource. Once it hits zero, the item is finished-whether it's good or not. Always keep in mind that if you end a craft with spare potential, you can use a Rune of Creation to duplicate the item. This gives you two chances to slam instead of one, which dramatically improves your odds of success.

Moving Tier 7 Affixes with Runes of Havoc

Runes of Havoc are used to shuffle affix tiers around an item. The goal is to move Tier 7 affixes onto the stats you actually want. This is where most of the gambling happens. Sometimes the shuffle fails and burns potential. Other times, you hit the "miracle" and land exactly what you need.

When working with limited LP, always focus on getting your most important affixes into the correct slots before worrying about anything else. If your Tier 7 crit multiplier and high spell crit land correctly, the item is already a success-even if everything else is imperfect.

Knowing When to Refine

Refinement should always be used on guaranteed affixes. In legendary slamming, if you run Tier 2 or higher of Temporal Sanctum, you can choose one affix that is guaranteed to transfer. This means refining that stat is often safe and worthwhile. Refining weaker or non-guaranteed affixes is usually a mistake, as they may never make it onto the final item.

Refinement becomes a calculated risk: if you have enough forging potential left and the stat sits low within its roll range, pushing it higher can significantly improve the final result.

Simple Crafts with Low LP

Not every legend needs to be complex. Items with only 1 LP are extremely straightforward. For example, boots that need movement speed only require crafting Tier 1 movement speed and using Runes of Havoc until the Tier 7 affix moves into place. Since that affix is guaranteed to transfer, anything beyond that is optional optimization.

The key lesson is not to overcraft items with low LP. One perfect stat is often enough.

Sealing and Targeting Specific Affixes

Sealing affixes are a powerful and often misunderstood tool. Sealed affixes can still exist on items being slammed-they just can't transfer. This makes sealing ideal for removing unwanted stats so you can craft what you actually need.

A common tactic is sealing a low-tier affix, crafting a desired stat at Tier 1, and then using Runes of Havoc to move Tier 7 affixes into place. This method works even when you're missing shards initially, as shard acquisition can be solved with targeted loot filters and Rune of Removal farming.

Crafting from "Bad" Bases

Even items that start with completely wrong affixes can sometimes be salvaged. By combining removals, sealing, chaos rerolls, and havoc shuffling, you can slowly reshape an item into something usable. That said, it's always better to start with an exalted base that already contains at least one stat you care about. Crafting from nothing is possible-but inefficient.

When LP is limited, remember that you only need to hit the most important affixes. Trying to perfect everything is often a trap.

How to Slam Items in Temporal Sanctum

To slam a legendary, use a Temporal Sanctum key and enter the dungeon. Always run Tier 2 or higher-Tier 1 should never be used. Higher tiers allow guaranteed affix selection and higher-level uniques.

After defeating Julra, access the Eternity Cache. Place the unique and the exalted item inside, select the guaranteed affix, and complete the slam. The number of Last Epoch gold for sale transferred affixes depends entirely on LP. Sometimes you hit the miracle. Sometimes you don't. That's part of the system.
